About Us

ORO, ORO, ORO

We are pleased and excited to be the very first to offer  to you our traditional welcome, signalling the start of your next fabulous adventure and this is a genuine heart-felt greeting that you will hear many times during your visit with us here in Oro, Northern Province,  Papua New Guinea.

By this stage, you are possibly wondering who Advance Native Tours are? If so, then please let us explain!

We are a family owned and operated business from Buna, nestled peacefully on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Papua New Guinea. We are a fully insured, registered entity in both Papua New Guinea and Australia, are a licensed tour operator with the Kokoda Track Authority and have a wealth of experience in trekking the Owen Stanley Ranges, with our  committed team having a combined trekking service of quite literally hundreds of successful Kokoda and Kapa Kapa treks.

We are passionate about our heritage and take enormous pride in sharing our home with guests from all around the world. Our Northern Beaches paradise was thrust into turmoil, three quarters of a century ago, during the hostilities that took place here and across the lands forming the Owen Stanley Ranges that today, we collectively refer to as the Kokoda Trail.

That very trail has now come to symbolise an enduring gratitude to the brave souls who fought and toiled for our freedoms and it is those very freedoms that Advance Native Tours celebrates today in offering you an opportunity to explore our country, to take up the challenge of the trail, partake in other tour adventures and to relax with the hospitality and warm friendship our family will lavish on you.

Why are we different?

Advance Native Tours set out to provide difference in the PNG tourism market. Our ethos is really quite simple. We see our guests as family and family is the most important part of our business, seconded only by our guests and treating our guests to an unparalleled experience in this modern world is utmost in our thinking.

National Geographic magazine asked 20 of the world’s greatest adventurers to tell them what they had on their Ultimate Adventure Bucket List, and of the three hiking treks listed, the Kokoda Trail was one … we agree with them, Kokoda is such an exhilarating experience, but why stop there? We offer many unbelievable adventures.

How we differ is extensive, but these points start as a short précis:

  • We offer an array of unique Papua New Guinean destination choices
  • Adventure is key to our thinking but our guests safety is paramount to us
  • Our dedicated medic carries a fully equipped wilderness first aid pack
  • We strive to get you the most magnificent photo opportunities
  • Trekking with Advance Native Tours gives back to the communities
  • Advance Native Tours offer historical insights that others can not
  • We include the most stunning of cultural experiences
  • We offer tailored, all inclusive itineraries including personal carriers

About Services

Our team at Advance Native Tours are skilled at taking care of you from the moment you arrive to the time you depart.

We meet you at the airport, arrange all your domestic land, sea and/or air transfers, accommodation, food and travel itineraries. Each tour will detail what you will need to be responsible for, however generally that will only be international airfares, personal effects, passports and visas, travel insurance and personal shopping (gifts, souvenirs, alcohol etc).
